Water is essential to our existence and wellbeing. As adults our bodies consist of more than 50% water and children have even more water in their bodies. Despite water being vital to maintaining our well-being, many people don’t like the natural taste of water. A healthy alternative is to jazz up your water jug with fruit infused water. Homemade flavoured water
There are no strict rules for creating fruit infused water and you can experiment with the quantities to create your own ideal flavour. When creating your water simply add the ingredients and stir gently to help them release the flavour and then place your jug in the fridge for a restorative top-up whenever you need it.
The health boost
Cucumber is a natural detoxifier and is a great ingredient in any infused water recipe. It goes particularly well with berries and makes an ideal accompaniment to any meal. To create your own version, add equal quantities of shaved cucumber to berries and place in your water jug. Then add cold water. You can experiment with both quantities to find your perfect flavour.
A berry feast
Children love berries and adding them to water is a great way to encourage them to top up with water on a daily basis. Choose a selection of strawberries, raspberries and strawberries. To add an extra boost to this recipe (and some great colour), throw in a handful of raspberries.
