Visiting the UK

If you are travelling to the UK to visit, you will need a Standard Visitor Visa. This applies whether you are going on holiday or conducting academic research, going on business or to take part in sports, creative events or to get private medical treatment. While you are travelling on the visa you cannot do paid or unpaid work. The earliest you can apply for this visa is 3 months before you travel. This visa usually allows you to stay in the UK for up to 6 months.
